Ratatouille (2007)
Brief Detail
Director: Brad Bird
Writer: Brad Bird
Release Date: 29 June 2007
Genre: Animation/Comedy/Family
Plot
A rat that has a great sense of smell yearns to cook great food. The problem is; he is a rat. When he gets separated from his family he comes across a restaurant in France that was owned by his favorite chef and decides to try and bring the restaurant back to its former glory. He has to befriend one of the newest employees at the store so that he can actually help make the food without anyone finding out that there is actually a rat in the kitchen making the food.
Performance
The voice acting was great in this. It is another Disney Pixar animation movie so it gets the great voice acting just like the others; Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Cars, etc. There is not much to say here for the voices other that they are good, but that helps the overall quality of the film.
Cinematography & Directing
The film looks great. I always like to see the Pixar animation because it looks so good and it is only getting better. Ratatouille is no exception. The movie is full of life and colors to make each scene alive. The people move with great fluidity and so do the rats. The rats are the main thing that is different in this movie, but much like they are able to bring life to toys, fish, cars, and monsters, they have brought life to rats. It is an unusual thing to make human like, but certainly not as unusual as fish, cars, or toys. Overall the film looks good and flows well with a lot of things going on to make it interesting for kids and adults throughout. And they do not have to rely on off color jokes like Shrek to entertain adults; it is plenty entertaining for the older crowd even if it seems only like a kid’s movie.
The Real Deal
I like every one of the Disney Pixar films so far. Ratatouille was brilliant fun for kids and adults just the same. I can not wait to see the next Pixar film Wall E.

I have heard nothing but good things about this movie.
Ratatouille was my favorite animated movie of 2007. I’ve seen it twice in theatres and twice on Blu-Ray. Every time is funny. So far Pixar has showed a great taste and produced state-of-the-art animated features.
With or without partnership with Disney, they were doing very well. I look forward to whatever comes out of their pipeline in 2008.
Thanks for stopping by Maxim. I could not agree with you more. Brad Bird deserves to be rolling around in cash right now. Bird and his team just make great animated films.
This is a great movie and has some really good messages about food in it. One for the present list I think, plus my husband is a great cook and an illustrator I know he would get a kick out of it.
Thanks Dave.
