Teeth (2007)
This one was recommended a while back, but it took me a while to actually see it. After watching it I really didn’t have a lot to say (this makes it an ideal candidate for a review blitz). Teeth was surely made with a sense of humor, but it was definitely a gross sense of humor. Although the actual subject matter was offensive and immature, it was really the poor acting and directing that turned me off of this one. There was seemingly no rhyme or reason to why people did the things they did and the movie fell flat on its face about half way through. I really wish I could say this was lesser known gem, but instead it was lesser known for a reason. I admit that it was good for a laugh or two though; maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood for it.

Maria Full of Grace (2004)
Maria Full of Grace was a movie I was holding onto for a while waiting for the right time to watch it. I figured it would be a slower film that may take a certain mood. I was right that it was slow, but there were some exciting moments and the overall story was strong. I would have liked a bolder ending, but it was still worth it. The main complaint I would have for it was it seemed a little like a lifetime movie, but it may have just been the subject matter.

The Ruins (2008)
The Ruins was fairly entertaining until I figured out that it was simply going nowhere. There are some scenes that make you jump and such, but nothing too scary. Having the whole film take place in the same area really hurts when the plot and dialog is so weak. If only the director had tried to make something more original maybe we would have ended up with something meaningful here.

One Missed Call (2008)
Interesting concept; poor delivery. The acting was sub par and the ending needs a lot of work. I would not recommend this unless you are looking for a lame horror film snoozer.

Flakes (2007)
Flakes started off with promise and seemed like it could really do something for me. Unfortunately the story became too predictable and overdone and the never really recovered. I liked the idea of a cereal bar, but if I see another comedy or romantic comedy like this I think I am going to puke. It has been done too many times before whether it be with movie stores, book stores, coffee shops, etc. It is always about the place with a little character but no financial backing being destroyed by big business. We all know about it because we live. Lets just face the fact that Walmart has killed the mom and pop stores and move on. Anyway, it was funny at times and I was surprised to see that Christopher Lloyd was still acting (I think he is the voice in a lot of animated films now). The film was simply missing edginess; I thought I was going to fall asleep the whole time.
