A Kiss For The World

Story
A troublemaker in elementary school keeps acting up. When he finally crosses the line by tearing up a newspaper the teacher gave him to do an assignment, she makes him tape it back together. When he is finished the teacher finds he has put it back together differently. What are the implications of the new newspaper he has created?
Synopsis
A Kiss For The World was an interesting short, which surely has a lot more going on than initially meets the eye. I loved it for its originality, but the picture quality was often distracting. It had that soap opera tone to it with the crisp image. Also, the directing often seemed like it was going out of its way to be interesting while at the same time not accomplishing it. They should have focused on the story alone and forgotten about trying to jazz up the picture.
The story however was quite moving and had a lot of depth to it. The thought of a little child creating something out of this torn newspaper strikes up a lot of thoughts. Did the little boy’s new headlines come true? Should the teacher not be so hard on the boy since he has shown an amazing talent in creativity? Do school systems stifle creativity and hinder children’s education? These questions are swirling around in my head after viewing A Kiss For The World, and that is what makes it such a great short film. It has the depth to strike up emotions and thoughts about moral beliefs and opinions about modern society. All of the thought provoking in this film is impressive with only ten minutes to present it in.
Raw Score: 7/10
